CLARIFICATION ON OKE ORA INSTALLATION: EXCLUSIVE AUTHORITY LIES SOLELY WITH THE OBALURU, NOT OBAJIO OR COUNCIL OF MOORE

PRESS RELEASE

[Ile-Ife, OSUN State] – [8/01/2025]

Clarification on Oke Ora Installation: Exclusive Authority Lies Solely with the Obaluru, Not Obajio or Council of Moore

Our Attention has been drawn to a release claiming authority of the Oba Oke Ora installation. In light of this the House of Oranfe wishes to address recent misconceptions in response to claims made in the article titled _"Oke-Ora Obaship: Obajio of Moore Disassociates Yaya Obawole’s Alleged Self-Crowning, Reaffirms Support for Ooni_ ," we seek to clarify the rightful authority in these matters.

It is important for the public to understand that the assertion that the Obajio or the Council of Moore (Ajo Moore) has the authority to decide or announce a candidate for the Obaship of Oke Ora is not only incorrect but also a violation of our traditional requisites and cultural requirements.

We categorically state that all exclusive rights to install anyone as the Oba Oke Ora are vested and lie solely with the Obaluru under the Imperial Authority of the Ooni. The Obaluru serves as the apex Custodian and prescribed Authority of The House of Oranfe and Ajo Iloromu. This lineage includes the Obajio himself as one of its member chiefs, being the son of Orajioye, the grandson of Oranfe, whose own position is installed by the Obaluru.

The Obaluru, therefore, remains the sole authority to decide on matters related to the kingship of Oke Ora, including installations and announcements. This tradition and authority are deeply rooted in our cultural heritage and must be respected by all parties.

We appreciate the efforts of all stakeholders to maintain peace and unity within our communities. However, it is crucial to adhere to traditional structures and authorities to ensure the rightful administration and preservation of our cultural customs and values.

The Obaluru, as the rightful and sole decision-maker, will continue to exercise exclusive authority in matters related to the Oba Oke Ora title and installation.

Signed,

Prince Adeposi Dare,

Director, Media & Public Affairs,

House of Oranfe.
